God is my source of well-being.
Not other peoples’s opinions of me
Not me being skinny or pretty
Not the successes of my children
Not how well I performed today
Not ——— (fill in the blank)
If anything has been inserted in as my source of well-being and worth then I have created a false God or an idol. Number 1 commandment: Exodus 20:3 You shall have no other gods before me.
Not only that but am I praying and asking God to turn my bad false God into a good false God for the purpose of my own feeling of success, happiness or worthiness? Why would He want to repair my substitute for Him?
Heavenly Father forgive me for putting these things in place of you as my source of well being. Renew my mind. Change my heart to care only about pleasing You! As the song says I don’t need my name in lights, I’m famous in my Father’s eyes. I am called and chosen by You not on the basis of anything I have attained but on the basis of Your perfect sacrifice. . You love me the same on the good days and bad, during failures and successes, Your love never changes. Thank You for Your faithfulness. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
